Today, I visited "Imaginarium : Over the Ocean, Under the Sea" with Little J and Y. I didn't know the this is the sixth edition of SAM's children-focused annual exhibition, before I visited. Didn't plan, yet so fortunate. This one was held in SAM8Q (Singapore Art Museum at 8 queens street, not the main SAM building)
1. Dimana Mogus (where is mogus?)
It is young talented Indonesian artist, MULYANA's work about imaginary villain octopus, made of felt, fabric, wool, and etc. so kids can touch and walk around. so, it is almost like very creative playground, that kids can freely interact. we spent most of time here, because kids just loved so much!
2. Damien, I'm Famished (After Damien Hirst)
Since My kids are big fan of movie "finding Nimo" (I showed this one as preparation of "finding Dori"), they really loved these moving fishes and sharks.. the lighting was so mysterious as well!
3. Plastic Ocean
This is quite shocking to see ocean, made of garbage.. I didn't know that 269,000 tons of plastic debris are actually floating on the surface of our oceans.. very educational! But, my kids are only interested in snack plastic bag.. hahaha..
4. Suara Muara (The Sounds of the Estuary)
It is a mixed media installation. So, you actually wear headset for each piece. For example, you hear the sound of wave, while you are watching this fabric sea is moving like actual sea. Kids really loved this one as well!
I only captured we loved the most, but other pieces are really great as well. so don't miss out!
By MRT, it is 2-minute walk from Bras Basah MRT Station and 10-minute walk from Bugis, Dhoby Ghaut or City Hall MRT stations. Since it will be closed in August 28th, if you didn't visit yet, I strongly recommend. Especially it is free on Friday from 6 pm till 9 pm, so enjoy this saving chance as well. I only found out after I visit at 3 pm. For adult, it is 10$, and for kids under 6 it is free. Good luck with your weekend journey, then!
