Ksisters is going back to basics with skincare this New Year!

2021 is off to a great start as we invited our #ksistersfam to join us in a cleansing quiz earlier this month. We shared some tips to get the best out of your cleansing ritual to achieve a #myskinbutbetter look, especially with Chinese New Year lurking just around the corner!

Washing your face may seem like a simple ritual, but many are unaware that they are not using the right cleansing products to address their skin conditions. But fret not, we are here to help!

Tip 1: Have you heard of the term ‘Double Cleansing’?

While it is not necessary to do a double cleansing in the mornings, we highly recommend double cleansing during your night time skincare routine to fully remove your sunscreen or makeup and to remove any accumulated impurities on the skin.

Who should do it? Everyone!

You may consider using a cleansing oil, cleansing water or makeup remover as your first step of cleansing followed by your second cleanse with a product which is more targeted for your skin type or skin concern.

Tip 2: What are the different types of cleansers? How do you know which one to go for?

There are still many individuals out there who are wondering which type of cleanser will be the best match for their skin. We have listed the different types of cleansers available at Ksisters and who it could be ideal for, which we hope could act as a guideline for you.

Tip 3: What is the best way to do a proper cleansing?

We all know that the clear answer is to use water. But do you know the different effects between using cold, lukewarm and hot water for washing your face?

While cold water helps to reduce pore size and refreshes your skin, it will not effectively remove dirt and impurities from the skin. Hot water can in fact cause skin sensitivity issues and strip the skin of its natural oils.

Ideally, we would recommend cleansing with lukewarm water. To know what is the best temperature, run water under your wrist and adjust the water temperature such that it is just slightly warmer than your body.

Tip 4: When is the best time to do a facial cleanse?

While cleansing should be your first step to your skincare routine, we found out that it is better for cleansing to be done after brushing your teeth. Certain ingredients in toothpaste could cause skin irritation, dryness and even formation of acne. Also, you don't want all your hard work and creams to be washed away. Just ensure there is no remaining toothpaste residue prior to cleansing your face.

Tip 5: The pricier the cleanser, the better it will work for your skin?

This is most definitely not true. Having a higher price tag does not mean your skin will be in a tiptop condition the next day. Rather than investing too much on your facial cleansers which you are literally washing down the drain, focus on key ingredients that will help your skin instead and look out for any ingredients that may irritate your skin.

It is better to invest more on products such as your ampoule and moisturisers.

We hope with these little tidbits of information, you have gained some beneficial knowledge that will be very useful for you to get that skin glow just in time for Chinese New Year!

Or any time of the year for that matter.

Keep glowing #ksistersfam!
