Did you know that the hottest period of the year in Korea is called Sambok (삼복) or Boknal (복날)? It refers to the 40-day span of time in summer, where the three hottest and most sultry summer days elapse — Chobok (초복), Jungbok (중복), and Malbok (말복) and it is usually between June, July, and August.

It is super popular in Korea to eat nutritious food such as Samgyetang in Sambok to help fight against the heaty weather, for energy boost and also, to increase your internal organs' blood circulation!

  • Ginseng is a well-known medicinal herb that provides nutrients, speeds up the body's metabolism and helps restore energy.

    Bibigo Beef Flavour Spicy Mushroom Soup (Yukgaejang)

    What is Yukgaejang?

    This is served with rich beef leg bone extract with seasoned red pepper paste, shiitake mushrooms and mung bean sprouts.

    • Stir-fried red pepper paste completed the deliciously spicy taste.
    • Made with big pieces of vegetables including green onions, mung bean sprouts, shiitake mushrooms and plant-based protein strips.

    Along with Samgyetang, Yukgaejang is also commonly eaten in Korea in during Boknal. Typically served during the hot summer days, they help to restore the vitality of bodies exhausted from the heat. A bowl of spicy and hearty Yukgaejang helps to bring out the sweat, leaving you feeling satisfied and invigorated!

    Bibigo Cubed Radish Kimchi

    This is recreated with the best and the healthiest offering of kimchi with the best Korean ingredients that respect the natural flavours. Pure sea salt helps ensure the kimchi's crisp texture, while quality chilli powder and natural ingredients bring the richness of nature to the table.

    What we love about it: We're definitely loving how Bibigo tries to recreate their radish kimchi container in the traditional hangari shape. It helps you to remember how these radish kimchi are made with lots of love and efforts in these earthenware jars in Korea! 

    Radish Kimchi is Jungmin's childhood favourite thanks to its crunchy texture and subtle sweet note to it, as compared to regular napa cabbage kimchi! Reminiscing about her mother's homemade kimchi back in Korea makes her crave for it even more now! 

    The processing of fermenting and making radish kimchi is downright difficult even though it can be found easily at Korean restaurants as a side dish, which makes everyone including Jungmin appreciate this dish even more. 

    It is also said that Kkakdugi made in mid to late autumn (October to December) tastes the best as it is the Korean traditional radish harvest season. Korean radishes picked during this time are firmer and have the most natural sweet taste.
